After this last trip together in October 2013 that I wrote about in the last newsletter, life separated Yoji’s and my paths and the past was buried so deep inside my mind, inaccessible to myself even, that I could only indulge myself in present and future for a while. However, as luck would have it, my life got yet another turn of events, the sudden death of my sister was just one of the hardships I had suffered in 2020. Yet sorrow turned into inspiration, fitting perfectly into our concepts for story 2, 3 and 5 that we had developed already early on. After almost having lost all contact to my best friend for some years, we hence managed to get back in touch and talk about our stories again. It was then that we decided that this time for real, we would actually write them.
In June 2021, we finally set up a regular call once a week, 2-4 hours each, to get into the doing: discussing our past, our plots, the characters and conversation topics to be included. Everything is collected and sorted in the writing tool Scrivener using a common folder in Dropbox. While focusing on the first book now, ideas from discussions and recent events fall into place like pieces of a puzzle, embellishing the concepts for the other 5 stories also.
The arrangements for my year off draw to a close and I will soon leave my apartment and Germany to move to Stockholm and start fulfilling my dream of writing a novel there. First ideas of where I’ll go after Sweden to continue the research for my books are starting to form. US, Japan and India are in consideration. Next time more about the current status of the first book with which I start into this new adventurous journey.
