Let The Adventure Begin!

1600 km northwards, 3 days drive, up to a new adventure, a new life. Collector of different life experiences, ever evolving, never constant. My first night in the camper I spent at a lovely half frozen lake in Northern Germany, enjoying the fresh cold air around my nose in the night, before my trip would lead me to Copenhagen the next day. I am taking my time on the way there, so my plan is to arrive in Stockholm only on 2nd January.

I’ll start this writing project with a good basis: in the past 6 months, once a week, Yoji and I discussed the plots and the characters, brought everything into an order, including the different topics that we want to feature in conversations. We managed to finish the framework of chapters and scenes that we want to write. Scrivener is a very good tool for setting up such a structure. If there was one thing I could improve about it, though, it would be the aweful formatting of bullet points, which is a running gag between Yoji and me everytime I am trying to note down some ideas. Now that the concept is ready, the only thing missing is researching the details and the actual writing.

As for research, we already got a nice jump start thanks to Prof. Tommy Bengtsson, a Swedish historian from the University of Lund, who is an expert on demography, population economics, living conditions and how the childhood affected later health and socioeconomic conditions of the people in Sweden in the last couple of hundreds of years. (https://portal.research.lu.se/en/persons/tommy-bengtsson). He kindly agreed to give us an interview, which took place right before christmas. From him we got plenty of fascinating, valuable input already and advice on where to find more information. Church records in the state archives, diverse travel journals and museums such as the open air museum Skansen will be my friends for the next couple of months.
