Becoming an author is getting more serious. I came back from my stay in the US last week and big questions greeted me welcome: What’s the burocratic status of my self-employment? When can I count with income? Will I pursue a day-job again next year? On which contintent will I live? Will my manuscript for Prison of Loneliness be ready in August for my first beta-readers? How do I find my beta-readers? What do I think about the book cover suggestions that my product manager sent me for Prison of Loneliness? Which audience do I really want to reach? What kind of cover does appeal to them? When will I start uploading content to my social media accounts? When will I set up a proper e-mail newsletter? When shall I officially start promoting Prison of Loneliness? When is a good time to publish?
I need to edit my book, do market research and work out my marketing strategy while still being in the process of developing my writing style and learning about book marketing. It dawns on me that this amount of work exceeds a full time job and might be the reason why the traditional way of publishing a novel included an agency and a publishing house. But I’ll not crumble. Babysteps!
Until August, I will edit my manuscript and invite beta-readers for Prison of Loneliness. In August I will do the market research and come back to my product manager about the book cover. After that I’ll get serious with the social media.
Do you want to be among the first to read my novel? Do you want to support me? I am looking for beta-readers. Everybody is welcome! If you are a Native English speaker, a Japanese, a Korean or a psychologist, however, I’ll treat you like royalty. 😀
